INTRODUCTORY

WORKSHOP
$10 member, $12 nonmember per class. Student provides tools & materials.
Introductory level students will learn about the art of fusing glass, types of glass, and how
to use glass-cutting tools. They will make projects such as jewelry, magnets and other small glass pieces.
All materials and tools will be provided. Introductory students will be given first priority in firings. Students
must have taken the INTRODUCTORY level glass fusing class at BAC before they can participate at the independent Workshop
level. Independent workshop students are required to supply all of their own tools and glass. All pieces must be made in class;
only pieces made during the workshop will be fired. Some glass is available for purchase in class. See
instructors for prices.

This
class is designed for hand building and wheel students of all levels of experience. Learn imaginative hand building techniques
and how to throw on the potter’s wheel or challenge your existing skills and consider how to combine the two approaches
to clay. We will explore the unique properties of clay, the aesthetics of form, decorating techniques,
glaze application, glaze mixing, and the loading and firing of kilns. No outside clay, please. Change of shoes required. Notebook
provided. Supervised extra studio time available.

This class is for advanced clay students who
wish to work on their own projects with minimal instruction. The instructor will model some advanced techniques.
Students will critique work to improve skills. Permission of Education Director and instructor needed
to enroll. Supervised extra studio time available.
WATERCOLOR TECHNIQUES

This course is a continuing techniques course in watercolor
painting, geared towards serious beginners and those intermediate painters who want to expand or practice various tools and
techniques in watercolor. Classes will focus on individual projects of the students’ choosing, with expanded one-on-one
instruction on techniques specific to those projects, interspersed with demonstrations to the whole class. The
first session will include a discussion of materials: if you have your own supplies, bring them, but if you are purchasing
supplies you might want to wait until after this first session to shop. Materials needed for the first session will
be provided for anyone who does not have their own.
METALSMITHING FOR BEADERS

Learn how to form and cut sheet and wire copper, brass or
silver to make elements to enhance your beadwork. Make your own jump-rings, decorative elements, toggles
and other clasps. A supply of copper and some brass will be available at no cost for practice materials
to complete a project. Silver will be available from the instructor for purchase at modest cost.

WOODCARVING

(wood, chisels, sandpaper, etc.) and tools will be provided by the instructor. Additional wood may be purchased
individually.
Experience the joy of creating your own woodcarvings in the company of other like-minded
artists. Beginning and experienced carvers will enjoy working and learning in this friendly and challenging
environment. All beginning tools and materials will be provided. Students may purchase
their own supplies and tools locally after some experience. Low and high relief, incised and in-the-round
carving will be covered as well as different woods, tool selection and sharpening. Safe techniques are
stressed.

taken from Josef Albers hand printed book “Interaction of Color” will amaze you. From
the book’s Introduction: “In visual perception a color is almost never seen as it really is..as it physically
is. This fact makes color the most relative medium in art. In order to use color effectively
it is necessary to recognize that color deceives continually.” Join us while we share in Albers’ mind-boggling
revelations about color and the reason for his interest in painting squares. A “must” experience
for anyone who works with color.

Start collecting objects
now to turn into jewelry that makes a personal statement. The student will learn basic cold-joining methods
to recycle your old jewelry pieces and found objects into charm jewelry. Stamping, forging, etching and
casting are some of the techniques to be sampled. Copper, brass and pewter will be the basic metals used.
Students may choose to purchase silver or gold if they wish.

Experience a new creative
adventure and learn how fun and easy it is to make beautiful jewelry from Precious Metal Clay. Working
with the various metal clays is an exciting process where even the inexperienced can explore their artistic abilities and
create unique, one of a kind pieces. In this class students will learn the basic fundamentals of working
with Copper Clay which includes design, form, texturing, torch and/or kiln firing, finishing and polishing. Basic
tools and textures will be provided for use. If you have a favorite stamp or texture you would like to
use, or have a design idea, bring it with. Bring your own lunch or fast food it. Students
are asked to include their e-mail address at registration so that Vicki can contact you before the class starts.
